Renting an apartment in Jomtien has a number of pros and cons as does renting a holiday villa and so you might want to weigh up the reasons why apartments are better for you than villas.

	Jomtien Beach is a very popular area of Pattaya for apartments. It is a long strip of beach which runs for roughly a kilometer. The beach has plenty of deck chairs, parasols as well as people selling food, drinks, clothing and so on. Along the beach you can find locals offering rides on banana boats, jet skis and parasailing.

You can also rent inflated inner tubes and hire a speed boat to take you for a ride or to one of the close islands.

Along Jomtien Beach road there are plenty of restaurants and cafes offfering Thai and western food. Many offer a combination of the two so someone can be eating Thai food, while the other having a cheese burger. Some of these restaurants are cheap and cheerful affairs, whereas others are more traditional restaurants frequented by locals and visitors alike. There are a number of Holiday Apartments along Jomtien Beach and many people prefer to stay in this area of Pattaya more than in Pattaya itself.

The Pros Of Renting A Jomtien Holiday Apartment

There are number of pros when it comes to renting an apartment but we'll start by stating that you probably have more security at an apartment. It's usual for apartment buildings in Jomtien, Pattaya and everywhere else in Thailand to have 24 hour security guards who monitor the comings and goings of visitors. Some security is better than others but it's there nonetheless. This doesn't mean villas do not have security, because many villa compounds do, but it's more secure at apartments.

Apartments are probably easier to come by as there are many apartment buildings offering holiday apartments around Jomtien and Jomtien Beach. This will provide you with a wider choice, not only on price, but also location, facilities and views.

Many Holiday Apartments at Jomtien Beach will have sea views and balconies where you can sit and enjoy the view. This will not be easy to find with a villa as most, but not all holiday villas, will be set back from the beach / sea.

Jomtien Holiday Apartments will most likely come with additional, communal, facilities such as a swimming pool and gym. A swimming pool is very common and gyms are frequently found but don't take this for granted. Very small apartment buildings might not have a swimming pool so it's worth double checking.

Apartment buildings often have a small mini mart downstairs. if not downstairs, then one will be a few yards away and this makes it very convenient for grabbing essentials such as milk, bread, coffe, tea, drinks and even beer.

The cons of renting an apartment at Jomtien are few but worth considering. Space could be an issue if you are a family, especially if you have young children. Apartments tend to be smaller and with less area to run around and stretch out. Kitchens tend to be smaller and so if you are cooking for your family, it could be more cramped than you might be used to. Having said that though, Jomtien and Pattaya have hundreds of places where you can eat out and with the prices being so reasonable, you'll probably just be cooking light snacks and maybe breakfast.

Privacy might be an issue for some people. A communal pool obviously means sharing and although pools at apartments tend to be quieter than hotel pools, you could end up having others use it at the same time.
The security guards will know your comings and goings and who comes back with you to your apartment. This could get reported back to the owners if the visitor(s) happen to be bar girls. Some apartment owners don't care too much, but if you are staying at a nice apartment with good furniture, fittings etc, you'll find that the owners do not want ladies of the night being there; and with good reason.
